Acoustic Peformance - Education
A typical fire-rated or non-fire rated door construction is highly unlikely to achieve the required 35dB Rw minimum acoustic performance for music rooms. A high performance acoustic door construction will be required. (You may find our FAQ on achieving high acoustic performance ratings helpful.)
Please note, to achieve acoustic performance on any door assembly, it is always essential to seal the threshold. (You may find our FAQ on threshold sealing helpful.)
All of the recommended solutions below have been tested and proven to meet or exceed the 35dB Rw requirement for music rooms.
